Project overview:

Geoservice Engineering AD took part in the ground improvement process in the sub-reactor zones of Belene Nuclear Power Plant.
A complex job - due to the diversity of the geological profile - high organics, and relatively high design diameters and strengths. Bi-fluid technology was used to achieve a positive result in a field trial test.

Successful job parameters:

Columns diameter: 2.0-2.5m;
Columns length: 20m; and UCS (unconfined compression strength) of 5.5MPa.

Methods of control:

Geophysical (tomography, cross-hole and seismic logging) along with undisturbed core samples through the entire length of the columns.
